Veracruz, Mexico 1999
Jesus "Chucho" Rodriquez
Jesus had asked for a bike for Christmas. When he didn't receive a bike, he told his father that he had not behaved well enough for theThree Kings to bring it for him. His father felt very bad since he did not have the money for a bike. His father operates a shoe shine stand on the main plaza. He told Jesus that the Three Kings were very busy and had not been able to grant his wish. He told Jesus that maybe the Wise Men had plans to surprise him when he least expected it. One month later, Mr Rodriquez was able to save enough money to buy a used bike. Jesus was beaming with excitement over his new bike.
I was fortunate enough to be able to help Jesus learn how to ride his new bike. Picture, in your mind, me running alone beside him on the plaza while he learned to ride. A memory I will never forget. For the next several years, our travel brought us back to Veracruz. Each time we were able to visit with Jesus and his father
I have found that there are travel photographs that go beyond others in highlighting beautiful memories of a person, a scene or a culture. These photos might not be technically the best photo of the trip but they are the most memorable.
In this section, I highlight such photos from my travels.
